Companion Animal - Lifespring!
Something I’ve never shared before is my companion animal I designed years ago as an expression of a positive aspiration for me! A version of her is present in the design of my home page, but these drawings represent her more fully. Her name is Lifespring! She has a personality that’s a combination of a lizard, a bird, a cat, and a fox. Her design has changed over the years, and I’ve drawn her countless times now! Drawing her is always incredibly comforting and calming for me. She is a dragon — for me she represents inner strength, focus, growth, and tranquility.
The symbol I wanted to focus on in her design was the circle (exemplified in the ring she holds, and the disk above her head), and it represents wholeness which is something I always try to center myself in when I can. The ring is made of simple iron, and the disk is light as air and you could move your hand through it if you went to touch it. Drawing her helps me feel more in tune with whole me; she feels like something I wanted to draw for myself forever! I began drawing her a couple of years ago, and have recently reconnected with drawing her again.
I associate her most with the element of wind, but also with the elements of water and life, with these both allowing her to grow water lilies and lily pads on her antlers.

If you haven’t already, I recommend anyone draw their own companion animal that fits their personality well. What element/elements do you find you connect with? Come up with a combination, and draw them for yourself — you may find they help you express yourself outwardly and feel more like yourself inwardly.
